Biden vs. My Student Debt

I don't know about you, but when I voted for Biden I was expecting him to cancel student debt for people like myself. After his election Biden has made some progress towards this goal by alleviating specific groups from student loan debt, but the cancelation is still very limited and Democrats signal that Biden is open to canceling some debt but, not all student loan debt. This is in contrast to Biden's campaign messaging and is partly why he is losing support among young voters. Sudent loan debt disproportionately effects minorities. People of color, who make less, have a more difficult time repaying loans, and end up repaying much more that the original borrow amount. Student debt is another creation that has created roadblocks for citizens trying to expand their knowledge and education. The student loan debt for American citizens exceeds a billion dollars. This amount of debt from citizens should be appalling. However, in America this is how our systems were designed to function. American political leaders didn't create free colleges or free healthcare or anything like that. Our system does not even assist the homeless adults, they would rather build structures that keep the homeless people away. American systems as a whole could use a redesign. Our political, social, and economic standards are influenced by money in one way or another. I think this focus on money from political, and business standpoints cripples our society and how we view one another.  For example, critics of canceling student debt point out the fact that other borrowers repaid their loans in full, or that canceling the debt would tank the companies responsible for collecting the debt. However, if college education was free then issues like this would not even exist. Biden used student debt cancelation as a slogan to help get him elected, now he has changed course and is open to canceling debt for only some borrowers. Biden's behavior highlights the game politicians play, when they are not in office they make all sorts of promises, but when they get in office these promises are harder to keep when under the pressure from colleagues, political donors, lobbyists and the like.
