Trump, Biden, and Social Media
Trump may not have been the best president but he definitly had several memorable moments throughout his tenure. this is more than can be said for Biden at this point. Trump was constantly in the media for something he said or did, and he was constantly trending on social media. Although much of this attention was negative because of the things Trump would say, the openness from a president was a new experience that can be appreciated in some ways, and criticized in others. Trump shared his opinions with the world even if everyone disagreed with them, Biden in contrast speaks very calculated and minimum. Biden is not as active on social media which is undoubtfully the goal, however can also be a weakness because social media could be a strong platform to communicate with citizens and share ideas. I did not agree with a lot of things Trump said however I did like how Trump was able to say what he was feeling without holding back. Trump changed how presidents are viewed and how presidents express their opinions. I think after Trump's chaotic presidency, Biden and democrats wanted to create a safe environment that includes a timid president who doesn't stray from script. In the process however, Democrats and Biden lost the social media powerhouse that Trump benefited from. Biden's sparse social media interactions have also taken a toll on the voters who supported him, causing some to question if they voted for the right candidate.
In the future, Biden needs to be more vocal and more assertive about the policies and laws that matter to Democrats the most. Without significant change towards a more inclusive future for all minority groups, then presidents will struggle to keep and maintain the young voters across multiple ethnicities.
